Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter
z January Meeting z
The Amanda-Clearcreek FFA chapter had their monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 17th at 6:00 P.M. in the Ag Center Building. The meeting was special due to the Chapter FFA Degree ceremony being held. The sophomores who earned the Chapter FFA Degree were: Katerina Sharp, Rachel Stoneburner, Tyler Garee, Nikki Herron, Mikala Bauer, Devon Boyer, Janie Queen, Seth Hollett, and Ricky Hutchinson. Congratulations to all sophomores who earned their degree. This is the highest achievement a member can earn within their chapter. There also was a special presentation on how to join the Farm Bureau by our local Farm Bureau members. If you are interested in joining the Farm Bureau, you can contact Mr. Tilley at 969-7281 and he will give you the information you need to contact Mr. VanHorn. The Ag challenge was marshmallow stuffing. This is where one girl and one guy from each grade level stuff as many marshmallows as they can in their mouths. The winners of the Ag Challenge were the Sophomores! Congratulations to the Sophomores!
February Meeting
The next monthly FFA meeting is Tuesday, February 21st, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. in the Ag Center Building. This is a very important meeting because new officer elections are being held. The Ag challenge is scavenger’s hunt. Each members need to be bring in random items for their class. All members are required to stay until Ag challenge is done.
Ag Breakfast
The next monthly Ag breakfast is Friday, February 3rd at 6:15 A.M. at Tee Jaye’s in Lancaster. Members can eat a nice home-style meal and bond with their FFA members before school.
Top Fall Fund Raiser’s Trip
Members who sold over 25 boxes of fruit are eligible to attend the Top Fall Fund Raiser’s Trip to Louisville, Kentucky. The members who are attending will leave on Friday, February 17th and and come back on Sunday, February 19th. They will have an educational trip by visiting historical museums, attending tractor pulls, National Farm Machinery Show, and etc. This gives members an opportunity to gain more knowledge about agriculture and to bond with other FFA members who are attending the trip.
National FFA Week
Every year our chapter participates in the National FFA Week. This week celebrates what the FFA is and what is has accomplished. Everyday has different themes. Our Student Development Community has not decided yet on the themes or night activities, but when they do members will be notified. In the past , Monday has been FFA shirt day. Tuesday was Blue and Gold day. Wednesday was Overall Day and the officers hold a lunch for all the high school staff members. Thursday was drive your tractor to school day and Friday was Official Dress or Jacket day.
212º Leadership Conference
The 212º Leadership Conference is Saturday, February 25th through Sunday, February 26th. The conference is at Union Local High School. FFA members around Ohio are invited to attend the conference. It gives FFA members the opportunity to learn new leaderships skills and to meet new FFA members. Members also get to participate in different activities like dodgeball, tug-of-war, card games, basketball, learning activities, and etc. If members are interested in attending, let Mr. Tilley or Mr. Sharp know ASAP.
Chapter Officer Applications
Any member who has earned their Chapter FFA Degree is eligible to run for a chapter office. If you are interested in running for a position, you need to talk to Mr. Sharp or Mr. Tilley about filling out the applications for each office. All applications are due February 10th .

Agricultural & Industrial Diagnostics CDE
The District 7 Agricultural & Industrial Diagnostics CDE contest is Saturday, February 11th at 8:00 A.M. near Utica. The contest is an extension of the Agricultural Education classroom and laboratory. This contest also serves as an assessment designed to evaluate students knowledge in recognizing and repairing malfunctions in agricultural and/or industrial power equipment. The skills Agricultural Education students learn in this CDE are the same skills required by agricultural and industrial technicians. The two members who are participating in this contest are John Miller and Nate Seitz.
Agricultural Sales
The District 7 Agricultural Sales CDE contest is Wednesday, February 8th at 3:00 P.M. at Lancaster High School. This contest is the marketing of agricultural products that is key to profitability in today’s competitive economy, and agricultural sales play a major role in the marketing process. Through this CDE, members will save the opportunity to demonstrate skills in sales by participating in a wide range of activities oriented around the total sales process. This contest consists of four people. The four members participating in this contest are: Jenna Ferguson, Sierra Jepsen, Kayla Porter, and Rachel Stoneburner.
Job Interview
The District 7 Job Interview CDE contest is Wednesday, February 8th at 3:00 P.M. at Lancaster High School. The Ohio Job Interview CDE is designed for FFA members to practice and demonstrate the skills needed in seeking employment in all areas of agriculture. Each part of this event stimulates real world experience that students will have when seeking employment in the future. One person per grade level is required for this CDE. The FFA members involved in this contest are: Austin Stai, Katie Krile, Nick Brumfield, Emily Cordle, and Chet Saum. The 5 categories are freshmen, sophomore, junior, senior, and first year junior or senior.
Public Speaking
The County Public Speaking CDE contest is Tuesday, February 7th at Liberty Union High School at 3:15 P.M. The Public Speaking CDE is used to develop agricultural leadership by providing FFA members the opportunity to participate in agricultural public speaking activities. Also one person per area is allowed for this contest. The four Public Speaking areas are the FFA Creed, Extemporaneous, Beginning Prepared Speaking, and Prepared Speaking. The members participating in this contest are: Susan Householder, Nick Brumfield, and Sierra Jepsen. We do not have a member participating in the Beginning Prepared CDE. This is normally a freshmen or sophomore. If interested, a member needs to talk to Mr. Sharp ASAP.
